CENTRALE CONTROL UNIT

The Centrale Control unit typically comprises of the power supplies, carriage control circuits and motor brake circuits.

On the ES and ESII series, the pre-amplifiers and power amplifiers are an integrated part of the Centrale.

On E, ESIII and ESIV series, the power amplifiers are separate units.

 

All NSM Centrale Control units have Light Emitting Diodes (LED’s) which provide a visual check that the various power supply rails are present. If an LED is not lit, then it indicates that there is a problem with the associated power circuit and you should seek advice by talking to us.

Typical issues caused by a problem with the Centrale include:

We can often remedy these faults with a full refurbishment of the Centrale, which at the same time will result in a superior, rich sound quality​.

During a refurbishment, we replace ALL of the electrolytic capacitors, pre-set controls, tone controls and relays on both the main board and the sub-boards.

On ES and early ESII Centrale’s there are six LED’s: four down the left-hand side and two at the top. If your Centrale has this configuration of LED’s, then it is compatible with both triple rail and single rail Credit Control units.

Later ESII technology jukeboxes (usually fitted with an Ortofon carriage) only have two LED’s on the left, and these types of Centrale’s are only compatible with the later single rail Credit Control Unit.

 

If there is a problem with the Centrale Control Unit your jukebox may not function at all (apart from the main lights).
